W2012r2 VM XG and Trunking

Hello to all!

so here is my network

I have 2 wan connections going to a 3750 with each wan connection to its vlan.
I am having a windows server with VMware workstation installed and I just made a VM of sophos.
The W2012r2 server is connected with 2 NIC to the 3750. One via the vlan4 and one with trunk.
I have found out how to enable multiple vlans on windows server via the teaming
but after that I cant set the trunk for the sophos and check if the xg have the trunk port.
The VM sophos xg is having two virtual nic. One to the vlan4 and one to the subinterfaces 2.3.4.

What I want to do is pass the two wan connections to my vm sophos xg (and lets say merge them) and sophos after that will send the internet to the vlan4.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you.

  • John,

in your case you need 3 vNICs:

    • one on vlan 2
    • one on vlan 3
    • one on vlan 4

Make sure the Physical nic that is connected to Vmware Workstation transport the trunk 2,3 and on Vmware there are 2 different virtual network with the proper Vlan ID (2 and 3).

Into XG you will configure the 2 physical ports, with each proper gateway and configure them on WAN zone. Once you are able to ping both WAN gateway, you will need to configure WAN Link manager under Network > Wan Link manager.

    You should be ok then.
