HTTPS scanning and wifi

So I'm trying to get the 'decrypt and scan HTTPS' setup on XG v.16 home edition. My issue is that even though I have the CA certificate installed on my Pixel XL I can't get internet access, I can connect to the Wifi AP but it has the X icon which means I'm connected but have no internet access. It doesn't even look like i'm getting an IP from DHCP..Is this a known issue with android or am I doing it wrong? I was wondering if I have to do something special with my AP to get this to work? Like setup enterprise or something?

  • rathb18,

can you share the firewall rules you have set. Also if you use a computer on the same Wi-fi network, are you able to surf on internet?

    Thanks

  • I just have the default fw rule enabled and a business rule for port forwarding my Plex server. And I have no computers hooked up though wifi (but can test that later) just some phones and an iPad on wifi and it does it to all of them also. I do have computers connected on lan though and they work just fine with the certificate.

  • Ok so I figured it out after a bit of googling. And since the windows 10 tablet and laptop I have both worked fine. Apparently Android phones need to have a secure connection to google services server, if something is 'between' that like A UTM or something it seems to affect that. That's why I was getting an X on my wifi icon. So I pretty much just made an exception for the https for the 'google certificate' and so far it's working fine. Not sure if it's a good thing to make an exception for everything google but...I mean Official google sites should be safe I would think, right?
