Problem restoring backup file from Cyberoam (SFOS) to SFOS Virtualized

Hi Guys

I was trying to perform the below

 1. Upload SFOS Firmware
2. Boot into SFOS Firmware
 3. Register the device
 4. All done
 5. Login at SFOS with the configuration migrated just fine.
 6. Take the backup from SFOS 16.01.2 (after the migration completed)
 7. Trying to restore the backup from SFOS 16.01.2 to SFOS 16.05.0 RC-1 (Virtualized) but failed

The exact message of failure is "Backup cannot be restored on current device"

Can someone please explain to me how I will restore the backup file ?

Thank you

  • Ok figured out the solution.

Check your VM file for the NICs availability. Normally after OVF installation you should have 3 NIC installed but the original cyberoam devices have 4 ethernet devices. So you need to add one more Ethernet Device. Shutdown the VM, add the nic, and start the VM again. Then the restore worked like a charm.

That way , we can test our changes back to VM and restore it back to hardware upon finish with critical adjustment.

    Thank you

  • P.Groidis,

the destination XG should have the same NICS or more otherwise the import will fail.

I will mark the thread as "answered".
