How to use a range of IPs for local/remote LAN networks in IPSEC tunnel

Question

I am unable to use am IP range for the local / remote LAN networks of an IPSEC tunnel (as opposed to using subnets/single IP addresses). I can see the IP range in Hosts and Services but am not able to choose it when configuring a tunnel. Is there a reason for this or am I missing something?

 inside the IPSec tunnel, you can add single ip or entire networks.

It would appear that you just can't do it. We just purchased two XG Firewalls and I've just discovered the same issue. What is the point of being able to create objects with lists and ranges if you can't use them?? Sophos? Bueller?
