PPPoE not reconnecting on v16

Since the upgrade to v16, I have had several instances of the Sophos XG failing to reconnect PPPoE. I have to manually disconnect from the Network Interfaces page then manually connect from the same page. Needless to say when I am not at home, this is considerably harder to do.

I never had this issue with any previous firmware versions, so I'm guessing something changed for the worse in the PPPoE code for this release.

There shouldn't be any instance where the Sophos isn't doing all it can to get back online, it's the primary function after all. No point firewalling traffic if the internet link is down...

Anyone else seen any issues with PPPoE not reconnecting since v16?

  • Hi Jonathan,

Take a tcpdump or packetcapture on the PPPoE interface and check if the PADI and PADO packets are communicated. Show me a picture of Log Viewer> System > PPPoE.

    Thanks

  • I am facing same issue since last 2 months for pppoe which once fails and gets up than it will not connect directly.

    Pls provide any solution.
