confused about Sophos email protection

Question

Hi, 
 
 I have never really used email protection in either XG or UTM as I never really understood if it would help in my scenario. 
 
 I normally use Gmail and Hotmail/outlook and access this emails using my phone and laptop web browser. 
 
 Is there a way the email could get redirected to Sophos to Scan and then back to my device? If yes do I need to be on the LAN?

Waghelak, 
 the problem is that you cannot manage MX records on hotmail or gmail to redirect smtp traffic from there to XG in order to get traffic scanned. 
 The only way you have to scan email is using POP/IMAP as absolut_legend wrote. 
 On the actual version of XG, using POP or IMAP you can only change the header but you cannot delete spam email. Vote this feature request:
