How to migrate Hardware Appliance configuration to a Software or Virtual Appliance?

So... I'm trying to migrate a configuration from a Hardware Appliance (XG135) to a Virtual Appliance ... I've found that the Virtual Appliance will not accept a configuration backup directly from the XG135... this was a process that was pretty simple with Sophos UTM... anyone have any ideas?

  • Hello

the backup is independent of hardware or software version. The backup prerequisites require that you have atleast the same of more number of ports on the destination appliance.

Also, a backup from appliance that has inbuilt wireless cannot be applied to another appliance without inbuilt wireless.

Could you please share more info about destination appliance.

EDIT: In your case, the source appliance is XG135 (8 ports) and if the Virtual machine configuration is not edited, it has 3 network interfaces by default, you'll have to add 5 more network interfaces to your virtual appliance and then try the backup-restore.

    Regards,
