XG Firewall V15 upgrade to V16 failure to find available code or upload firmware

Currently running SFOS 15.01.0 MR-3  on my own gear (IBM x3250 4 core and way more memory than it needs). Runs like a champ except for all the stupid streaming gymnastics but that's another thread.

I'd like to upgrade it to V16.  Going into Administration > Firmware  click on the button to look for new code, and it reports nothing available.  So I go to download it.  Into my account, it's available there, fine, download the file: SW-SFOS_16.01.2.SFW-222.gpg

Go to upload that, and I get a nice little red box that says:

"New Firmware could not be uploaded. Please refer to online help for possible reasons"

Dang if I can find a reason why it won't upload.  Looking for ideas.

Thanks.

  • Also,

I have see some problem with Firefox to upgrade the firmware. If you are experiencing the issue with Firefox, try with another browser.

    Thanks

  • Using Chrome seemed to have been the fix....strange, but it worked.  It failed under FF using the download you posted as well (which was the one I had pulled down originally anyway).

  • Hi

the firewall is new one 115.

I tried with firefox first and then with Chrome the same result: no upgrade available clicking on button and if I try to upload manually it said "new firmware could not be uploaded. Please refer to online help for possible reasons".

The strange is tha I was able to dowloand and install the SFOS 16.01.2 by click on download button (using firefox) but after that succesfully installation no way to do any upgrade.

I see also that data are uploade inside the firewall using du-meter.

What to check or to try ?

  • I found my mistake, I have downloaded the wrong firmware : without 300 inside the name because i start from the list of devices and not clicking on he serial number that is more accurate.

But I think could be useful if inside the error message they could add also "please check hash file and version file firmware".
