Hyper-V, Windows 10, high CPU usage

Good Afternoon,

I installed Sophos XG Firewall Version 15 on a Hyper-V under Window 10.
The host is equipped with 8GB and a AMD A6 CPU and I asigned 3GB and 2 Core to the Virtual Machine. Two NICs are installed, one of them a USB to Ethernet Adapter

Installation and registration are fine, not a single problem.
But after a fine minutes my CPU usage increases up to 95%, causing the host to freeze.

Netsvcs is using all the CPU, but I not able to find out why?
Found noting on Google.

Thanks

Karl

  • Hi Karl, first I would use the latest v16 software. Its way better than v15 and they have tweaked a lot of stuff like high cpu usage when running under hyper-v etc.

But your problem seems to be windows/hardware related. I would scrap that usb to ethernet adapter and try going with a standard ethernet adapter if possible. The usb adapter maybe fine for regular web browsing but not running vms. Also svchost.exe (netsvcs) high cpu usage may indicate other problems with underlying host. Sorry for the bad news.

In any case, don't give up... you are so close[:D]

  • Thanks for your answer.

    It wasnt a virus.
One of my harddrive causing all these problems, I wasnt able to install V16.

Also I replaced the USB ethernet adapter and everything is working fine.

    Thanks

    Karl
