Can i ask what the ISO is for then?

Also if i boot the device from the new firmware image, will it boot the new OS with the current config?

Choosing the option upload and boot the XG will update the firmware and use the current configuration.

The ISO is used when you need to reinstall the XG from scratch.

So if the firmware is there already uploaded on the device and i just select the 'boot' option does that achieve the same thing? maintaining the current config?

once you have upload you can select boot from image and XG will reboot with the new firmware. If you are unsure, make a backup of the current configuration and then proceed.
