Issue with VOIP connection - disconnecting calls and not being able to place calls

Hi All,

We are using a XG125w (SFOS 16.01.1) and are having some random issues with VOIP.

I have checked the DDoS is disabled.  I have also turned off all protection on the firewall outbound rule.

I have tried unloading the SIP module and when I do that they can no longer be heard or hear on the call.

I have put an inbound rule on the firewall for VOIP Audio ports.  When I have re-enabled the SIP module it works and goes abck to the random dropping.

In this installation the VOIP coming in is a SIP Trunk.

Can anyone share anything that might help with this?

What does the SIP module do?

Thanks

DAMIEN

  • Hi,

Random dropping could be down to a number of things including the device for instance sending BYE messages when it thinks it has detected a call teardown.

Are you behind NAT or using a public IP address for your VoIP? Secondly are you using NAT proxy settings?

If the device has a SIP ALG built in then this should usually be turned off for remote VoIP services in my experience.

Lastly, your VoIP provider should actually be able to tell you exactly what is causing the call drop as it is relatively straightforward to diagnose for a competent VoIP provider.

    Hope that helps.

  • Thanks Tan,

I assume you mean that the phone system has SIP ALG built in?

    Thanks

    Damien
