Override MAC Address not working or something different?

I'm just starting to play with XG-firewall and have configured the WAN interface with an override MAC so my cable modem should give me the same public IP-address as my current Sophos UTM.

See my picture for how I configured this.

Problem is, it takes a long time before an IP-address is given by the provider and it is a different one than the one I get on my "regular" MAC-address.

When I put the UTM back in the modem it gets the "old" IP-address back, same happens with a small SOHO router where I change the MAC-address to be the same as the one on the Sophos UTM.

Does the override MAC not work or do I need to do more than just set it up and save it for it to become active?
Is there a way to check if the appliance really does use this MAC-address?

PS, I did check and double-check the configured MAC-address and the version of XG is SFOS 16.01.1
