UTM and XG red configuration compression: bug?

Hi all,

I have seen 2 threads where people were able to configure the Red-to-red configuration (between UTM and XG), the tunnel is up but some issues appear.

Have a look at these threads:

https://community.sophos.com/products/xg-firewall/f/network-and-routing/81412/ospf-over-red

https://community.sophos.com/products/xg-firewall/f/network-and-routing/80819/red-site-to-site-routing

Sachin or Prateek, can you confirm it is a bug?

Thanks

  • Have seen the same between RED Server (UTM) and RED Client (XG).

When tunnel compression is ON, the tunnel comes up and some traffic is allowed (default ping), but when I increase the PING size to anything larger than 56 bytes, the ping doesn't work anymore.

First I thought this could be some kind of MTU mismatch, but after unchecking tunnel compression, all traffic between the two RED sites work as expected.

So it seems tunnel compression between UTM and XG is also not (fully) supported.
