Is the reboot reasonable when change a timezone?

Hi,

I think It is definitely bug.

If I change a timezone, XG firewall will be reboot.

In my experience, any security devices including FW(or NGFW), IPS and IDS (and various vendor) are not reboot when change a timezone.

If customer’s XG firewall has an incorrect timezone, customer tries to change the timezone correctly. (if it was wrong configured by engineer when deploy a XG.)

The customer thinks that changing a timezone is very minor change. And then the customer can not expected that the XG will be reboot when change a timezone.

I was expected that this issue is fixed at V16. But V16 still has this issue.

I would like to know the plan for fixing this issue.

Does Sophos has any plans for fixing this issue?

  • YujinWon,

you are right. Changing the time zone should not require a reboot. Changing the system time many times requires a reboot because all engine need to update their time also, but time zone should not be a problem.

Let's see what prateeek has to say about it.
