DHCP over WiFi with Bridge to AP LAN

Hi, I have searched but was not able to locate the answer, so hopefully the community can assist.

I am configuring a new multi-site configuration.  I have a XG-115 at the home base and a XG-85w at the remote site.  Both sites have a Public and Private WiFi.  The Private is Bridged to the LAN and the Public has a separate IP scope.

The issue I am having is the Remote (XG-85w) site I cannot get a DHCP address when connected to the Private WiFi.  Wired, it parses out addresses.  But the wired connections all receive self-assigned addresses.  The Home (XG-115) site has the same exact configuration (Different names and different sub-nets) and has no issues whatsoever.

I am stumped.  I Wiped and rebuilt the Remote from scratch just to make sure I hadn't fat-fingered something.  But I am not having any luck.

  • HI JonMiley ,

I would like to help you with your issue.  Before that, I would require some more information on your  network and may need some logs to analyze,

     1. Before the implantation , Do you have any other DHCP server in the LAN network in Remote location ?

    2. Could you verify the XG appliance receiving the DHCP query  , you may use the command on the console,  "console > tcpdump 'port 67 or port 68  -e".

    3. On your local system , I would need a PCAP of the DHCP request and monitor on Port 67 and 68.

    4. Network Layout and the MAC address of the system initiating the request and the host address of the XG Lan interface.

Please message me the necessary information.

    Thanks and Regards

  • Aditya,

Thanks for the response, however I decided to go an alternate route with the Internal WiFi, so there are no logs available.

  • Bump on this issue, as i'm experiencing the same thing.  main site is working fine, but my remote site I using an XG 85W.  In Bridge to AP LAN mode, the private wireless network can't get dhcp addresses.

We are using our windows server for DHCP in this case.  I think it should work, because I'm doing this same thing at my main location using an XG210 with several APs scattered about the building.

the only differences I can find are the model of XG box and the fact that the 85W has integrated AP rather than the externals at our main site.
