unbelievably high session count, slow internet

My internet connection is extremely slow and seems to be capped around 3mbps of the usual 60 mbps.  This happened once before and restoring the firewall to defaults fixed it.  This time, I have made no configuration changes.  Most alarming, my live session display seems to indicate a recent 8,689.84M session count.  Thats 8.6 billion sessions active at once??  The session count has dropped to 0 now by comparison and my bandwidth meter shows 332K WHILE running the speed test.

    I think this was due to corruption on the disk.  The VM had been setup with a VHDX format which according to Hyper-V is only supported by windows 8 and newer OS's.  I reinstalled the VM and the problem never returned.
