XG 15.01 Hotspot Basic / Full Configuration

Trying to get the Hotspot custom configuration working correctly on the XG for a terms of use Hotspot.    Currently I can create a hotspot setup as terms of use, set it to no customization and it will work as intended.  If I accept the terms I can then browse the internet with no issues.

If I change the customization to basic, and upload a custom (300px x 100px) image, change the title and text & save the changes.   The hotspot will still load with all of the default information (pre-basic customization) with a broken Logo image.  If I log into advanced shell and do a find ./ -name "imagename.png" for the custom image, it cannot be found anywhere on the system.

If I do a full customization, download the default templates, keep them default and just rename them.  Upload both the template and style.css the Hotspot will connect and on sign in redirect the page will just be blank.  Doing another find on the system for custom template / logo neither can be found.

Exporting the full configuration and diving into Entities.xml I can find the call for <LoginPageTemplate> for the custom template, as well as the Custom <ImagesStylesheet> call for the Logo.  However when connecting with Basic / Full customization none of the changes are being made on the Hotspot login page.

Has anyone else had any issues with Hot spot Customization?  I've tried this on two different XG105w units.  One brand new out of the box on 15.01.0 and one on 15.01.0-MR3 and experienced the same issues on both.  I've also factory defaulted both units, went through basic setup and jumped straight to Hotspot configuration after they came back up and experienced the same issue.  Tried this with (IE / Firefox / Chrome) to no avail.

  • Yes I was able to make it work.  I had to name my logo (logo.png) default_template.html the default and the default_style.css default.  I then had to take the spaces out of my hotspot name and I was able to get it to work correctly.   I was not able to change the existing hotspot though so I did have to delete and recreate it.  After I got it backup it was allowing connection but not bringing up the login page.  Went into system services and the HotSpot service was Stopped.  Started the service and it then began to work exactly how we wanted it.

  • That is great news and helpful information.  By the way, do you know how to SEE what devices have been authorized and is there a way to revoke them the list and make the re-accept the terms?  I am trying to make changes and test the page my users would get, but once I have accepted the terms, I cannot get that screen to show up again.  We have a pfsense firewall that allows us to see what MACs have been allowed and we can remove them as needed.  Very nice feature, but Sophos does not seem to let you SEE who has been allowed.
