'Blocked File Type' NOT IMPLEMENTED for POP3

Hi,

I'm using a XG135 (SFOS 15.01.0 MR-3) with Base Firewall / Web Protection / Email Protection / Enhanced Support licence.

I would like to block some file extensions from POP - those who contains Office Macro. So I refer to this KB to get MIME:

https://technet.microsoft.com/fr-fr/library/ee309278(v=office.12).aspx

But I can select them only for SMTP (in the menu Protection -> Email Protection -> Scanning Rules).

How can I implement it for POP ?

Thanks,

Vincent

  • Hi Vincent,

For POP3/S - IMAP/S protocol there is single, global rule. Whenever a virus gets detected in a mail, the virus affected attachment will be stripped from the message and the message body will be replaced with a notification message. Raise this as a feature request here: feature.astaro.com/forums/330219-sophos-xg-firewall.

If you are using outlook, you can discover several documents to disable macro executable files.

    Thanks
