I've managed to install Sophos Firewall XG on the hardware of a Checkpoint IP 390
To do this I used the procedure to install from USB but instead of an USB stick I used the internal CF slot to install to the internal HDD
The IP390 is a headless device which is accessed throung serial console. I've modified the serial port speed to 38400 and used putty with following settings to access the console:
Bits per second --> 38400
Data bits --> 8
Parity --> None
Stop bits --> 1
Flow Control --> None
The install itself got to the end without problem but when it reboots and wants to start for the first time it hangs at the very beginning.
The only information displayed is:
FIRMWARE LOADER (Press ...snip...
Starting 15_01_0447
I've tried to disable all that could be disabled in the Bios except the serial port itself or I wouldn't have console access anymore but nothing helps.
Does someone have an idea?
If there is a Sophos engineer online... What is happening at this point and what could be done to have a bit more output to debug?
Any advice is welcome.
