Can Not Connect 172.16.16.16:4444

I've configured Sophos ASUS Wireless Router and Barebones Intel.  Management configuration is successful using iPad, Android phone, and Dell Computer But not with MACbookPro.  Using MACbookPro and several browsers was not successful.  The MACbookPro is the normal computer.  The tested connections were Wireless and Hardwire.

Why/what is the problem with connecting the Apple?

  • Hi,

Can you be precise and concise with your requirement? I am unable to understand your question.

    Thanks

  • I've installed sophos on a Zotac nano computer.  I can see/access the sophos management screen when using some computers but can not access/see/find the management screen when using my MACbookPro at your given address https://172.16.16.16:4444.

I've researched the web and contacted Apple but the problem is the MAC at that address.  The router is an ASUS RT-N66U.  I can access the router through its Wireless but can not access the Sophos management console through the MACbookPro and use the basic set-up per IT.

I can access the said web page using my iPad through the Wireless.

  • Hi Kenneth,

Check the network settings on MAC book, see/verify the subnet configured on MAC. Is MAC receiving the IP address via DHCP or Static defined?

Take SSH to XG and go to option 4 . Device console. Execute, tcpdump 'host x.x.x.x(MAC book IP) and port 4444 then try to access the management console on MAC and monitor the logs.

    Thanks

  • That didn't work.  Have purchased a new modem to bypass the ISP Technicolor.  Will check the source of a WAN IP rather than DCHP IP.  Perhaps a setting on the RT N66U ASUS Router.

  • Thanks for an update.

We will look forward to hear from you if that resolves it.

    Thanks

  • Hello Sachin,  Very impressed with your degree.  Is that a Master of Computer Science or Bachelor?  The attached image is Sophos loaded onto my dedicated Zotac mini, but the program itself has not started.  Perhaps the Zotac is not configured to run the Sophos at the moment.       kpollock@do52.name   +1 252 296 1534

  • Please explain how you are connecting to the XG with the mac and where is the AP in all of this?

  • Hello.  I'm not connecting MAC, I've got a Zotac with Intel and SSD per SOPHOS requirements, and that connects a keyboard & monitor.  Once the SOPHOS firewall worked and I was able to access the interface through the iPad but not the MAC but the next day, it has never worked again. The Zotac BIOS set screen has many options and I've asked Zotac for settings to run Linus SOPHOS.  The only change I've made is Boot: Legacy -- the other choices Win7 and Win8 do not apply.

If SOPHOS community has ever worked with the Zotac and know the BIOS settings that could be helpful.

The Zotac/SOPHOS is not connected to the Internet, and these efforts are dry ...
