LAG setting & LACP

I created a LAG interface connecting port 4 and 5 on my XG230 and I set a LACP setting on my HP 2530-8G switch.

Both sides seems to have the correct configuration but my XG230 does not connect fully, the connection icon stays in the orange state.

On the switch side, it shows I am connected, the partnership is ok and the active LACP status as ACTIVE should initiate data transfer, even if the SOPHOS XG230 has LACP set to PASSIVE.

What could possibly prevent connection?

  • Hi Eric,

Verify the pre-requisites to configure LAG.

    1. The device that SF links with through LAG (e.g. a switch) must support LACP (802.3ad) mode. Refer to the switch/device's manual for configuration details.
    2. All of the interfaces in the SF LAG group must have the same physical characteristics (some examples are: Interface Speed and Full-Duplex, which is applicable to LACP mode).
    3. Only the unbound physical interfaces of SF can be a member of the LAG group.

Next, please post a screenshot of global setting for LAG on XG.

    Thanks

  • Apparently SOPHOS XG does not initiate transaction when my HP switch 2530-8g was set to ACTIVE LACP.

Setting up LACP on my switch using the CLI command INTERFACE 9-10 LACP ACTIVE does not work. What did work was creating a TRKx with the LACP option on port 9-10, using putty.

Apparently the two settings type are not the same, one has LACP active, the second LACP passive.
