AP15 loses connection every 1-2 days

Hi there,

right now I am using the XG (SFOS 15.01.0 MR-3) Firewall and like it so far, but I have an irritating problem with my AP15.

I added the access point about 2 weeks ago and I do have to reset (remove power) of the AP15 every 1-2 days,

because the firewall keeps losing the connection to it.

I added a DHCP server for my normal network (Port 1) with static MAC / IP for my AP15 and a DHCP-only client (Chromecast).

My private wifi uses Bridge to AP LAN, whereas my guest wifi (seperate) uses the interface WIFI (with its own DHCP server).

Connectivity and network without problems:

- my wifi devices use static IPs and connect to my private wifi, have access to the other network devices and Internet

- my guests get their own IP addresses via DHCP (interface WIFI) and can't "see" each other, but do have access to Internet

Now every 1-2 days my firewall loses connection to my AP15:

- AP15 still listet, but inactive

- AP15 lost IP from DHCP

Now I have to reset (remove power) from the AP15 and wait a few minutes and sometimes I also have to reset my firewall.

Anyone an idea how to solve this nasty problem?

PS.: AP15 was automatically updated to FW 5.0.0.1 (current version in webinterface) - or do I have to update it manually?!

    Hi Markus,

    Please check awed.log, do you discover any log line that state such behavior? How is AP connected to XG firewall, through a switch or directly to a physical interface on XG? Wireless access points attempt to register with UTM using the address 1.2.3.4 on TCP port 2712. Verify that the required port and IP address are not blocked in the switch(if the AP is connected through a switch).

    thank you for your help so far.

    I am using a HP 1920 16-Port switch and there are no ports blocked.

    I found in the awed.log

    This always happened when the AP15 lost connection.

    I am still looking into this, but if you already have an idea I would be very grateful :-)

    What firmware version does XG reside on? There is a fix to this issue in SF-OS MR-3.

    Hi Markus,

    I went through similar cases in support team. One question, after upgrading to MR-3 did you delete and reconfigure the configuration for the effected AP.
    If not, can you please delete the old configurations for AP and reconfigure fresh and update me further ?

    Hi Sachin,

    I already had MR-3 installed before I bought the AP15 therefore your scenario does not apply :-/

    Any other idea? Any logs that might help finding the solution?

    Although I had bought my AP15 after I had installed MR-3, I would like to try your suggestion regarding the AP config.

    Shall I delete more than the Wireless Networks?

    Is removeing the Wireless Networks from the AP and deleting them all I have to do or did I miss anything?
