  • Hi,

The firmware version on XG 115 should be similar or higher than the firmware version on XG 310.

    Thanks

  • is already the same firmware. Both version is 15.01 MR 03

  • Hi,

The designated SF device (to which backup is to be restored) must have the same or greater number of ports than the source device (from which the backup is taken).

Technically, XG 310 has higher number of port than XG 115. Hence the backup cannot work from higher device to lower ones.

    Thanks

  • Hi sachingurung.

I thought this is only for backup and restore only. You can only backup from source devices with same amount of port or less but you cant backup from source devices with greater port.

So even import just the security policies without any dependcy. This greater or same port rule also imply ?

Does import and export feature is affect with this greater or same port rule ?

  • Is anybody gonna reply this forum ? Is backup and restore the same as import and export ? Does it mean that if the source device have a greater number of port then the destination device. The IMPORT AND EXPORT cannot apply ?

I did a full import and export from XG 310 to XG 115. Seem like only the definition is move over but the rules/security policies/ application policies does not come together with it.

  • Hi,

Please refer https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/123145. The document states that backup from a source device will be applicable to the devices with similar number ports.

Further, Import Export page allows an administrator to export device configuration to a text file and import configuration from a text file to the device. The contents of the text file are in human readable XML format and hence the contents could be updated offline. The updated configurations could then be imported on another compatible device.

    thanks
