Specific URL Blocking

Went through the steps of creating a new rule to block a specific website.  In the end, site is not blocked.  If I use an existing rule, for example Rule ID#1 and pull-in the website to be filtered, it will block but not put up the typical Sophos warning that , say, "No Explicit Content" will.  So, it would seem that traffic for the site to be blocked is going around the new rule but not Rule ID#1.  How do I correct this?

  • Hi Richard,

The positioning of the Firewall Rule always matter, please verify that the rule is placed on the top of Rule#1. Verify the local zone and host configured in the firewall rule through which you want to block the website. But why do you need a separate rule to block a website, when you can actually execute this from Rule#1?

    Thanks

  • Right, easier just to embed in Rule#1.  On to the second part of this.  Why doesn't the site, specified in the URL Group, trigger the Denied message like a Web Category block would?
