Scanning email does not seem to work

I am trying to setup inbound scanning of outlook.com and gmail.com. I'm using Outlook 2016. I have generated the certificate and imported it into Windows. The certificate is playing nice with Outlook (no error messages).  I've set everything up per the knowledge-base articles. From the firewall rule it looks like the email is being scanned.

However, none of the email appears to be actually scanned. There are no messages in the email  headers, the Test spam mail (GTUBE)‏ does not work, prefixes don't work, etc. Am I misunderstanding the capabilities of XG to scan incoming email when there is no local email server?

Thanks

  • No, you don't misunderstand. What you are not seeing and is not explained is that port 443 mail does not go through the mail policy, but goes through the general policy and is treated like normal web browsing traffic. Ticking the https box in the mail policy has no affect on the traffic flow.

Took me a while to work that one out and is very frustrating.
