Cannot see my Ubiquiti USG device

HI, have setup XG now as a bridge to my Ubiquiti Unifi USG gateway device (device does the PPoe coonection for internet etc.) all working 100% but with int he UNIFI management software it shows the USG device as being disconnected (even thou i can ping it and also bring up its intial confirm web page)

XG is a bridged port (connected to USG via cross over cable) 10.10.0.4 and the gateway + USG IP is 10.10.0.1

how can i allow the UNIFI maangement software on 1010.0.10 to see the USG LAN connection via XG ?

thanks

  • Hi Stuartmac.  Glad to see another UBNT buddy.

If you have XG in bridge mode, you need to setup a firewall policy from your WAN to LAN allowing the USG to communicate to the Unifi management console/key.

So if I read correctly your details correctly, it would be WAN (10.10.0.1) -> LAN (10.10.0.10).  Start the policy off with no filtering and AV scanning and if your concerned, work your way up if you need more security.

Sorry.  Just got on the forums recently cause I'm having issue also with bridge mode.

  • I just set up XG in a USG env for the first time today (i am new to XG)

It is key in the firewall policy you do not enable masquerading as this will interfere with provisioning states if your XG is between your USG and cloudkey (controller).

symptoms will show as the  USG as appearing to go through adoption / disconnection loops (note in reality it doesn't this is just a UI issue)

  • FWIW here is my working starting policy.

If any other USG owners find this feel free to ping me here on on the ubnt boards.

This goes cable modem <> USG <> CUJO <> XG <> USW <> Cloud KEY + my AC-APs etc
