What is the difference between enable or disable routing on this bridge?

Greetings,

sorry if the question is simple, but I can't find what difference does the "enable routing on this bridge" option does to the configuration. I deployed the Sophos XG in bridge mode (with the "enable routing on this bridge" turned on), and I'm having some issues with DHCP and other services. What does this option do, and in what scenario can I use it?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Jose

  • Enable routing on will make bridge interface to participate in routing decisions and it will route traffic to other network interface which is directly connected to your device. if it's off then traffic will be sent to upstream device.

you can use it when you have another network connected to device apart of bridged  network interfaces and you want traffic from bridge interface to be directly routed to that connected network rather then sending it to upstream device.
