A little networking help, please

I have nothing more than some basic networking knowledge, and could use some help. My XG box has 4 ports. I have ports 1 & 3 set as LAN and port 2 is WAN (port 4 is currently disabled).I have all the wired devices on port 1 with a starting IP of 192.168.1.1 and the wireless devices on port 3 attached to an AP with a starting IP of 192.168.0.1. I've put together some polices that allow the wired devices to access devices on the wireless network and vice versa, but I'm having trouble getting everything to work. For example, I have a Windows 10 laptop with an IP of 192.168.0.101 on the port 3 wireless network, and a Canon printer with an IP of 192.168.1.200 on the port 1 wired network. I can pull up the printer's configuration page on the laptop, but when I try to print, the laptop says the printer is offline. So what else do I need to do to allow the laptop on the wireless network to use the printer on the wired network. Or, is there a better way to separate the wired and wireless devices? Thanks.

  • Zbrett,

you can have both wireless and wired devices on the same network segment. It depends on what you want to achieve. You can, for example, have one wireless network bridged to LAN so they share the same IP, next have another Wireless network (separate) that your guest can use it and they do not have access to internal resources.

Once you have decided what you would like to do, share your Policy rules, Zone and Wireless network and we will help you.

    Thanks.
