Hi,
has anyone here ever tried the ZBOX mini PCs for the home edition? They have a few quite powerful models with two LAN ports. They look tempting...
Thanks

Unfortunately the CI321 seems to have an issue with XG right now, if you can get yours working, Sophos Dev would love to know (PM me and I will pass on the info!)

Emile
I got it now. but i was not able to install it directly...
I always got the "Failed getting ISO Disk" error. I tried everything i could (someone actually got it working on a C321 --> https://community.sophos.com/products/xg-firewall/f/135/t/76333)
I now run WIndows 10 with Hyper-V and a USB-RJ45 Adapter.
In my case Hyper-V gets Full Controll over the 2 onboard NIC's and Windows 10 only sees the USB Dongle. This Way Windows 10 is only connected to the LAN.
Performance is ok, but i excpected better. If i enable Phishing Scan every Website takes 10 Seconds before it loads (after the first connect it will work smooth for a short time)
As i have a 200 Mbps Internet my CPU-Load goes up to 90% while under Speedtest
I hope there will come a new release with USB3 Support so i can install it directly. It is a shame this device has only USB3 Ports to attach an installation Media.
As for now it works fine, but i hope for a normal installation in the future
Cheers
Which ZBOX do you have? It seems to me with the I321 there is a way to install it Barebone.
I have a I521 and tried all available settings in the bios which made sense without any success. No Bios Update available... I think its a driver problem from Sophos. I had no problem installing Windows 10 on the box. After the initial selection of the boot device the USB-Ports are disabled because of the missing drivers?!
I got a ZBox CI323nano and it works great. My only trouble right now is that it only has two Ethernet ports and I'd like 3-4 to do some other things with wifi and DMZ networks. I can get a mini pci-e Ethernet adapter but then I have to hack my case. I wish XG supported USB 3.0 Ethernet adapters, that would make life so much easier! In any case, I ran into the same ISO disk warning when trying to install XG on the ZBox. To get around that I just re-flashed my install media in DD mode (Rufus told me the ISO was in dual format and I could pick the default or DD mode). Default mode is what gave me the ISO disk warning, when I re-flashed my USB disk in DD mode, it worked perfectly.
One note to be nit-picky, the web interface for the XG feels much more sluggish when loading the dashboard page and status graph pages where its generating dynamic graphs. The other pages load fairly well, but if you are used to the hardware appliance or virtualization the XG, you will notice a slow down when going to the ZBox.
The CI323 was officialy added with the MR3.
For the NW-Ports. I use VLAN's for this case. It works as it should. Only requirement is a VLAN capable switch on the receiving end (this should be no problem today) and a bit of understanding of how to configure VLAN's. It is quite to do this and you won't need additional NW-Ports.
