Single Arm mode (Single NIC) of Home edition

Ok, so I asked for help in setting up Sophos in Single Arm (single nic) and I have a very vague response which left me with more questions than answers.

I setup Sophos in Bridge mode

In Interfaces, I have:

BR0 for the bridge

Port A = LAN

Port B = WAN

Under Routing, I created a static IPv4 route 192.168.1.0/24 & attached the gateway to Port B (WAN) as 192.168.1.1

Under Firewall Rules, I created 2 rules (Allow WAN-WAN & Allow LAN-LAN)

I created a test user named 1

I installed the MSI package of the authentication client and used the test credentials to have it use the 'magic' ip of the proxy

Tested the settings and I am  not seeing any traffic flowing in Sophos.  I do not have any Live users.

In Diagnostics -->  Connection list, I see the IP of my client connecting to port 4444 of the server for the web interface admin.

On the client authentication app, where are the logs?  I do not know how to troubleshoot the client as I can use any credential and not know it if works.

I will try disabling the LAN interface later.  Any other thoughts?

Thanks!

  • I'm unable to disable the LAN interface as I will no longer be able to ping / access the WAN interface (because the NICs are bridged together I believe). As uch, I am also not able to remove the bridge itself.  I am not sure what to do now.

Is there any step by step documentation on what I need to do?

    Thanks!
