HA failovers entire appliance with one wan link goes down

Hello,

I have an active-passive cluster and am monitoring my two wan ports that are connected to separate ISPs. My problem is if one of my ISP links go down, the whole appliance fails over. Is that by design? It doesn't make sense because after fail-over the link is still down regardless of which appliance takes over. Then it appears that shortly after the fail-over, it sees that the link is down and fails back. Usually by this time the ISP link has come back on its own. Since one of my ISP links goes down about once or twice a week for a few minutes and comes back on its own, is there a way to tell it not to fail-over but wait until it comes back up? Or should i stop monitoring it?

  • Hello  ,

Thank you for reaching out to the community, it is not recommended to keep WAN link under monitoring ports. Cause every time your WAN link fluctuate the failover will occur and that's by design. You can keep LAN or DMZ Ports under monitoring under the HA config or any other custom zone except WAN.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Thanks so much! So that i understand... If one of my internal ports goes down the entire appliance fails over as opposed to just the interface failing over in an active passive?

    Thanks again for your help.
