SCCLI to save user credentials

Hi, Good day.

Is there a way to save user credentials using SCCLI? Because from documentation, it provide us option to clear credentials.

support.sophos.com/.../KB-000038531

It provides option to automatically save user credentials from Sophos Connect GUI but does it provide option to manually save it from SCCLI?

The goal is to have user/s automatically connect to VPN without any intervention. BTW, will use IPSec Remote Access VPN.

Cheers!,

Kulas

  • I plugged your question into chatGPT and this is what it gives me. It seems to be aware of Sophos XG: (this is a chatGPT response...so if it's wrong, it had nothing to do with my part)

Hello! As far as I know, the SCCLI (Sophos Connect Command Line Interface) does not provide an option to manually save user credentials. However, you may be able to achieve your goal of automatically connecting to the VPN without any intervention by configuring your Sophos Connect client to use a certificate-based authentication instead of user credentials.

To do this, you will need to:

    1. Generate a client certificate for each user that needs VPN access.
    2. Configure the Sophos Connect client to use certificate-based authentication.
    3. Distribute the client certificates to the users.

Once the client certificates have been distributed and the Sophos Connect client has been configured to use certificate-based authentication, users should be able to connect to the VPN without having to enter any credentials.

Please note that the steps required to configure certificate-based authentication may vary depending on your specific Sophos Connect setup, so I recommend consulting the Sophos Connect documentation or contacting Sophos support for further assistance.

  • Thank you for your input. Seems certificate based-authentication is not available on Sophos XG (from what I had read here on forum) can you confirm?

Another thing, do you have any  idea if provisioning file (.pro) file allows to automatically define user credentials rather that manually typing it from Sophos Connect GUI? I was wondering if  using .pro file can be used but looking at the documentation, the available options doesn't allow to define user credentials. If it's possible, can you share a sample template? Thanks
