Sophos XGS 3300/4300 SFP+ question

Hi,

It is possible to connect XGS3300/4300 to core switch with RJ45 SFP+ ASF-10G-T transcievers to get 10Gb/s speed over cooper?
Any other transciever option, on link listed below I can only find this option for XG, not for XGS models?
Has anyone tried this type of connection?

Thank you

  • I think this has just not been tested yet. If it works in an XG, it "should" do in an XGS as well. Can you test or do you need to know before ordering?

Why don't you use optic or DAC cables?

  • I can't use fiberoptics or twinax cables because core switch is RJ45 10Gb/s only, it doesn't have any free SFP+ slots.

I will get demo box from Sophos before buying it and try to connect it with RJ45 transciever that is confirmed as working for XG series and hope it will work.
As I read on forum Sophos is not bothering about what type or brand of transcievers you put in a box?
It is interested that till now no one tried this type of connectivity, 10Gb/s over copper is now widely used inside racks.
