Error with loggin access Web Sophos EXSi

Hello! I'm new in the forum. I started working with a client, where he has "Sophos Firewall" virtualized on VmWare EXSi 6.7 (Firmware: SFOS 19.0.1 MR-1-Build365).
The previous infrastructure technician left de company, and wrote in .txt a username (admin) and password, but it only works for me to enter "by console"
Main Menu:
1. Network Configuration
2. System Configuration
3. Route
Configuration
4. Device Console
5. Device Management
6. VPN Management
7. Shutdown/Reboot Device
0. Exit

If I enter by IP or through IP:8090/httpclient.html and try to use those credentials, it gives me a login error. Is it possible that the admin user only works to access the console and not the web? Can I load a new user from the console? o Will I be able to see a list of users per console and modify the credentials?
The idea would be to not have to reset the settings to the factory.
Greetings and thank you very much for your time.

Sorry for my English, I speak in Spanish.

  • Hi Gabriel,

Thank you for reaching out to Sophos Community.

    For your queries

    • Is it possible that the admin user only works to access the console and not the web?  This is both possible, you just need the correct path and port
    • Can I load a new user from the console? Creating a new user can only be done in Web UI
    • Will I be able to see a list of users per console> Go to CONFIGURE>Authentication>Users on Web UI
    • modify the credentials? > Admin Password can be change it CLI, however other User credentials can only be change it Web UI

    In Addition to rfcat

1.To verify the port you are using on the web console. you may check this at CLI,  5.Device Management ,3. Advanced Shell and type the following and it will show the Port.

psql -U nobody -d corporate -c "select destinationport from tbllocalservicedetails WHERE localserviceid =2"

2.Once you verify the port, but still cannot access the WEB UI. You may try to follow this KB

    https://support.sophos.com/support/s/article/KB-000038694?language=en_US

To enable this, kindly go to 4.Device console

    system appliance_access enable

Note: This will cause a network interruption and it will override the configured Appliance Access and allow access to all the services. If you are accessing remotely, you will be disconnected. Once done with adding new user or anychanges, Kindly don't forget to disable it by typing " system appliance_access disable.
