Can't reach certain public servers

I have multiple pieces of software behind my Sophos that try to reach out to their public servers (usually http port 80), but always return an error stating the host failed to respond. In general, the devices behind this Sophos don't have any problems browsing websites, it's just certain applications that reach out to remote servers seem to be blocked or not routing properly. If I'm lucky enough to have a destination IP address in the log, which I am in many instances, I type it into the event log in Sophos and it always says Invalid Traffic. I never see any accept/deny or any firewall rules where the traffic is routed, just invalid traffic.

Here's some examples of things that are not communicating. Again, there are never any issues with web browsing, just applications that try to reach out to external servers (not internal to the LAN).

  • Application tries to reach out to server to activate, cannot reach host
  • Application has an internal mapping function leveraging Google maps, cannot communicate
  • Try to Azure join Windows PC - cannot reach Microsoft servers
  • Try to activate Office 365 - cannot reach Microsoft servers

Any ideas? Greatly appreciated!
