expanding XGS appliance portfolio / adding LTE extender as external box PoE powered to portfolio

Hi,

I am wondering if Sophos looking at their appliance portfolio of XGS firewalls and how they compete with their competitors. We entered in few competing bids where we learned that Sophos is worst positioned as branch office SDWAN firewall if you require LTE backup connectivity. Why is this:

- in order to use LTE you need to get XGS116 which is almost twice of Fortinet FG-40F (performances are not important here; these branch offices are 3-5 PC)

- If you use XGS116 you need to put modem inside the device. If communication room/server room of the building is located somewhere in basement where LTE signal is weak, you have another issue (and no, taking XGS somewhere outside this designated area is not preferred by customers for variety of reasons so let skip that; let's see why Sophos is behind competition)

So, what's up with this? Any plans to tackle this?

Thank you.

  • They are aware of it. However, they don't have answers (at least it is my understanding).  Answers we are getting clearly show Sophos is staying behind competition and actually making hard to compete since lack of functionalities and products Disappointed. We just want to know if we will wait a bit longer or look for solution on another place.
