Another issue with the Sophos Connect Client - Importing of user profiles is too limited or restricted...

 Sophos Connect with multiple users on the same PC 

My specific scenario is as follows.

I am a network admin for multiple clients that use Sophos firewalls.

I invariably have various different user accounts I will use to connect to the clients network, depending on what I'm doing. For the most basic example, as a user or as an administrator. However, the Connect Client will not let me import more than one connection profile for the same client simply because Sophos have decided to design the client in such a way that it will use the host information for the connection profile. It doesn't matter what you change the name of the profile to, in the client UI, it is hard coded into the software for it to use only the host name.

The message generated when this issue occurs is:

A connection with this name already exists. If you continue, the existing connection will be overwritten. Continue?
---------------------------
OK Cancel
---------------------------

This strikes me as both bizarre and tedious.

Please reconsider this design.

  • As i mentioned, Sophos connect comes with several features for the enduser. It will not cover and maybe even block certain Partner deployments. Therefore a movement for a Partner to the OpenVPN Client could be a better way to do this.
