Sophos Central Firewall Rules

Question

I can't find any exact documentation on this. The first time I created a group with my first firewall, it the group seemed to adopt that firewall's ruleset and DNS setup without any prompt - it just did it. So, I've tried this again with a new group, added a firewall which has the settings I would like the group to have...and so far, nothing. 
 Was this just a fluke the first time? Is there a way for me to "export" my rules from an appliance to a central group?

 Thanks for reaching out to Sophos Community and hope you are well. 
 
 FW rules created onbox would not be reflected to SCFM, but rules created on SCFM would reflect on appliance GUI and SCFM as well. Please see this recommendation from SCFM guide: https://docs.sophos.com/central/customer/help/en-us/ManageYourProducts/FirewallManagement/Firewalls/index.html#edit-group-policy
