Set up IMAP/POP EMail Scans

Hello,

I am trying to set up IMAPs/POPs/SMTPs Settings in an XGS running SFOS 19.0.1

In general there is an external Mail Server and in the local network behind the XGS there are Outlook Clients that connect to the Mailserver via IMAP 993 and SMTP 465. No internal Mailserver. The XGS has the Email Subscription addon active.

As far as I understand, MTA and Legacy Mode in the Mail tab are only for use cases where you have a mailserver behind the XGS but not for a scenario described above.

So far I set up a FW rule that has the Scan email content functions for IMAP(s), POP(s), SMTP(s) active and I installed the XGS CA cert on the client machines. I cannot see any functions regarding mail scanning happening though. Do I have to set up SSL/TLS decryption on the Web tab to get the mail scans working properly?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Thanks for the quick reply. I already went through the Sophos Support articles, but still I do not get any Mail Logs in the MTA mode besides backup mails the XGS itself sends to the mailserver. Also some Mails that should be marked as spam do not get marked.

Is the scenario I have covered by the XGS in general?

The SSL/TLS decryption is not configured (out of box; dont decrypt).
