Re-Image failed XGS87 - NPU was not found on PCI BUS!

I'm not able to re-image a Sophos Firewall XGS87.

Error: NPU was not found on PCI BUS!

  • sounds like NPU is disabled on BIOS if that is even possible.

  • I can't access any settings like NPU from the BIOS. I think it's not possible to disable the NPU via BIOS.

  • This has probably never been tested on that HW. You probably found a bug and need to sort that out with support.

    I hope someone from Sophos has a great idea and post it here while you struggle around with the support team.

  • It looks like the NPU on your device is not coming up on the BUS. 

    This can happen if an update was interrupted, and now the NPU software is corrupted. 

    Can you open a support case? If we can remote access your device, we can try to see how best to recover it.
