New scan to email error with XGS firewall

Greetings everyone,

Our organization's admin, sales, and accounting departments do a lot of scanning to email. We have an on-premise Exchange server. Last week when I replaced a UTM with a new XGS firewall I started getting an error on only certain printers when trying to scan to email. All printers could scan to email with UTM. The new XGS is in front of our mail server.

The error I receive is:

Connection failure: <550>

Connection Error

Mail server response:

550 Administrative prohibition

Employees scan to their company email then forward on their email as needed.

The error occurs right away like the email server or firewall rejects the scan.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

  • Possible you didn't allow all printers (their IPs) to access the email server, and you used SNAT or Masquerading at the SG to hide the Printerconnections behind a single allowed IP...?

Which error do you got from/within exchange log?

  • You were correct. The scans were being rejected due to failing the BATV Signature check. I added all printer IP's that will be doing scanning to an email exception and they are working. Thanks!
