Easy way to stop Spam email from Yahoo email account

That's not what I expected. Public mail is easy to use anywhere you are. Any plans for this in future? If not, then if these were dumped into MS Outlook, could Sophos deal with that?

Email Protection is set up as part of your chain in receiving mails via SMTP. Therefore your Sophos Firewall would have to part in the chain of *all* yahoo (or any other public mail service) in order to deliver spam protection. So this is not a decision Sophos made here - its about how e-mails are designed.

The whole product (and as far as I know any other mail filter appliance I saw until this day) is design for specific, custom domains. So the appliance would work with a public cloud solution as Microsoft 365, e.g.

In fact, it would be possible to build spam filters based on client protocols (IMAP and POP3) - but in my opinion, this is not a complete and good design, if its not used for Communication between an external mail server and dozens of clients. E.g. all protection mechanism would only work for clients behind the firewall - not outside of the local network.

So if you want to use a dedicated email protection, you should buy a domain and set up a dedicated mail server (either in house (Exchange, Domino, agorum, etc.) or cloud based (Google Workspaces, Microsoft 365, etc.) for this domain. You can then include the Sophos Firewall in your Mail Flow for further protection.

Sophos XG can and does do mail scanning for imap/s. You would have to use your mail client if you want to scan incoming mail. Browser based is html or similar so does not pass through the mail handling process.

As said - this will only work, if all your mail client are behind the Firewall. So if you got a mobile phone and load emails (without VPN) outside the local network, the XGS is not able to filter the mails.

If this limitation will work for you, everything should be fine :)

To block emails in Yahoo, start on the homepage of your inbox. Select the message or messages from a certain sender you want to block by clicking the check box to the left of the message. In the toolbar at the top of your inbox, click the three horizontal dots next to the Spam button. Select the Block senders option.

That does not stop spam from reaching your in box. Your suggestions means you have to read and mark each mail message, not practical.
