Block mobile access in firewall

Hello Team..

We are exclusively uses Sophos XG750 for our University (approx 7000 users).  earlier we allowed sophos login only from CAA agent but some old OS not support this CAA agent and for that we have to enable webbased login.  Webbased login is also not a much problem but by enabling this web based login Mobile users (Android and IOS) also login through their mobile and which is against our University policy.  Now more than 15,000 users remain connected because of Deskops / laptops + Mobiles and this also chocked up our Wi-Fi and also breach in Univeristy IT policy i.e. Internet only in Laptops and Desktops .

How can I restrict users to block internet from Mobile...   This is the most concern for us.  !!!!

Looking for your help in this...

Regards,

Ritesh Bhatt

  • Hi Erick..

Thanks a lot for your reply !!
MAC address Whitelisting is not possible in my scenario because students (apprx 6500) daily carry their laptop and we can't fix MAC address for each students because they keep changing laptops...

Only solution if Sophos provide an Android and IOS login restriction option that will serve my purpose. Sophos can easily detect user login methods whether it is from Android client, Android web portal, CAA, IOS Client etc.... If Sophos can detect end user login methods then there should be a provision to restrict that too..

  • Hi Ritesh,

Unfortunately, Sophos does not block devices based on Operating System.

This would be a feature request, kindly reach out to your Account Manager/Sales Engineer so they can submit your idea to our internal system
