Redundancy - BGP & Static routing

We have two wan links connected on sophos & want autofailover between them, for one wan link we have configured bgp and for other wan link we have configured static routes. Now we want bgp routes to be preferred over static routes & in case of link failure, static routes should get preferred. Hence we have increased static routes AD as 230, but still sophos is preferring static routes only over bgp routes. So whatever AD we set to static routes, BGP routes are not being preferred.

Although, if we remove static routes & run setup only on one link that is configured with BGP, then BGP works properly. But, there is one observation, metric of bgp routes in routing table always shows 0, regardless whatever distance we set in BGP.

Please suggest if we are missing anything to get this requirement fulfilled...
