Looses internet connectivity when attempting to use VPN.

After connecting to VPN, internet connection is dropping. And immediately resumes after disconnecting VPN.

Using Ubuntu 22.04 , VPN is set up over L2TP. Also able to receive logs for the connection over the host.

Any resolution available ?

  • Sharad,

Can you provide some more context, screenshots.

If you connect to, for example, SSL VPN, and have "Use as Default Gateway" configured, but your NAT rules are not right, or a Firewall Rule is not in place, then yes you will have an issue there.  Cross check your connection settings with your security settings to ensure that traffic will pass properly.  You may want to post a redacted snippet of the following items:

    1. Your Firewall Rule for VPN traffic

    2. Your NAT rules for VPN traffic when acting as default gateway

    3. Your IPSec, SSL VPN or L2TP configurations, (PPTP should not be used unless you absolutely accept that risk)

    Thanks.
