IP is located on the Port1 IP is not behind a router.

Good Morning,

I have 2 cash registers on the exact same network, plugged into the same switch, same vlan etc.

How ever, one register doesn't not work despite using the same port #38990. I made policies whitelisting the IPs but the register still wont work.

I dont think its an issue with the switch as the other registers work even on different ports.

When running a route lookup in sophos FW. The working register is on PORT 2 WAN, where as the one that isn't working comes up:

Port1 is LAN.

192.168.8.125 is located on the Port1
192.168.8.125 is not behind a router.

Any ideas? Same network, ip lease ranges are good etc. Just not sure what the issue is or how to fix it.

Thanks

  • Just to confirm: a working and non-working register are on the same switch, and that switch is connected to which port of the firewall? It sounds like the firewall thinks they are on two different Firewall ports (Port1 and Port2). Is it confused about Port2 not being WAN, or are you not using Port2 as the WAN (it's just a convention from Sophos and of course you don't have to use it that way)?

  • it should all be going to LAN. Its Sophos XG fw connected to a switch that then connects to a 24port switch that both registers are on.

Everything was working fine before thats why im puzzled.

Port 2 on FW just hooks up to a comcast modem.

  • But you say that the working register is on Port 2, above, and that port is hooked up to the WAN here. That's why I'm confused. Are we talking two different sets of ports: switch and firewall?
