Sophos Firewall users not joining my AD associated group

Thanks, this article was usefull, except my users doesnt seems to match with my groups even if I lookup the backend groups. The default group is Domain users and I have put one of the group in the list associated to this user. Yet it doesnt seems to want to link with the specified group.

What are your settings under the firewall authentication settings ?

Yes my AD is set as the first one, I dont know if the type of group has an impact, I'm using Unviveral Security group at the moment. Open Group is also my defaut.

my groups are also at the top of the list.

Could it be because I am login the user (for the first time) on a User Portal which is using a different server for authenthification? Not directly the firewall

So that user which you logged in does that belong to the AD server configured on the top most priority, under the firewall authentication method ? 

Yes, its a user recently created in my AD

Are your users a part of the primary domain users?

Yes they are, they have Domain user, a couple of non important groups and then a group I have synced with the Sophos Firewall

Can you create a user which only has a since Primary group i.e. Domain users and no other non-important groups and then try to authenticate the user, see if you get better results...

Essentially if you activate the backend membership group view in SFOS und still see 0 groups, the AD is not telling the firewall the backend groups. 

Likely auth is not done vs the AD server, instead local.
