XGS Email Cache?

Hi,

I may have made a big mistake. Does the XGS not have a disk cache for email? I'm moving from the UTM and it never occurred to me that the product line that ISN'T on its way out wouldn't have the same/similar functionality (albeit managed quite differently). I cannot find any Disk Usage specs or reports. If it doesn't cache them, what does it do with incoming messages when it can't find the server due to an internal network or server issue. Over the years we never missed an incoming email because our UTM would just hang on to therm until it could contact the server again.

Thanks,

Jeff

  • It does cache the Emails, as the Exim does it like on UTM.

But those Caches are in a HA split up. So if you have two different Appliances (HA), those emails are on the active appliance only.

And SFOS uses a mechanism to not flood a Email Server (MTA). If the service was offline, it will try this service again for the next hours (Increasing intervals) and do a "lock" for this server. So if you server was offline, it locks all Emails for this server until it is reachable again. You see this in the log.
