Sophos firewall software port position

Hi Sophos. I have configured the xgs firewall software version in vmware esxi.
I have created 7 network adapters linked to port 1 to 7 of the firewall. At every port I have configured ip, dhcp and policy with it.


The problem is. when i delete network adapter 3 at vmware. At the firewall network adapter 3 has gone and adapter 4 has taken port 3 position instead of port 4(its old position), and so on with adapter 5,6,7 have taken position (port 4,5,6). Position of network adapter change with port position so all ip have changed with my port setting, all of my topology has changed too.


How can I fix the network adapter with port position to solve this.Thank for reading.

    Hi,

    if you assign a network name and use that in the firewall rule then port changing should not be an issue.

    You should not do this approach. Stay stable in your configuration on the firewall site. If you have to remove an adapter, i would always recommend to remove the configuration in Vmware but not to remove the entire Adapter. This can have some issues with the SFOS OS itself. 

    By removing the Adapter, the rest of the adapter could get mixed up. And later adding new adapters can also cause problems. Simply leave them there unplugged.
