AP55C working but AP55 not showing up

Hi forum,

I have two AP55C's at home which work fine. The Sophos XG is also my gateway, i have a windows server 2022 DHCP server, so requests are being relayed to the server. On the DHCP server i use an option 003 with IP to my Sophos XG. So this setup is working fine. I bought and received an AP55 today, while connecting it to the same network as the other two AP's it did not show up in my Sophos XG. Next thing i tried was replacing one of my AP55C AP with the AP55, in my opinion that should work. However, it did not. I did a quick google and noticed Sophos advises to use a Magic IP DHCP option 234. So i created that and added it as an DHCP option. But still the AP55 won't show up in my firewall.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Peter

  • Hi,

which version of XG software are you running? You might need to create a CM (free) account to manage your new AP55.

  • Hi Ian,

I use SFOS 18.5.3 MR-3-Build408. I will look into that, however, the AP55C works fine. I did try to make the AP55 connect to the XG with a local DHCP server on the XG. Then it does seem to show up on the XG. So i guess for whatever reason it does not like the DHCP relay like the AP55C does.
